Umthombo Wesizwe

Hi everyone!

2010 has been a great year for Umthombo thus far!  We are working in Hout Bay this year and we have selected 40 children from 4 schools to be part of the programme.  In addition, the facilitator training programme has been adapted and expanded from last year and the result has been a comprehensive and in-depth promgramme that promises to provide facilitators with a solid grounding in the knowledge and skills necessary to be a successful facilitator on the children's camps.  We have a fantastic team of trainers and they have been complimented by an equally fantastic group of facilitators - the training is well under way and we have already seen great results!

To the 2009 children - it was wonderful to see some of you again and we are missing everyone a lot.  Thank you for the inspirational letters you wrote to the children on the 2010 programme.  Continue to be the valuable circles of influence in your communities.  Have you seen our latest newsletter?  Have a look at the Children's Corner to see some of your comments.  You can also join our facebook group and keep in touch by writing on our wall.

Welcome to our first blog entry! I am excited to introduce you to the improved website of Umthombo Wesizwe. Creating our online presence is just as much as an ongoing process as creating our Pilot Programme...we have got many exciting ideas, which we will hopefully all bring alive.
