Namaste all,

Umthombo has been doing their own yoga - so many different asana's; Facilitator Training, The Leader Within Childrens Camp, Pre- Planting preparation and the up and coming Diversity Day.

The children and volunteers have been so inspiring with their time and energy. Our closing ceremoney at the Follow-up Leadership Camp was testimony to this with many tearfilled goodbyes. What better way to decsribe the journey than through some pictures.

Green Fingers – my mom and gran are blessed with green fingers and their gardens are exquisite. It’s also their knowledge of the flower names, shrubs, annuals, perennials, shady, sunny. I assumed that I had inherited the green gene – well I am still looking for it!

Livingston from Soilforlife has the green gene and Andrea, Liefie, Sinethemba , Zamile,  Saskia,  Odwa  all have the green gene. We had so much fun learning about the best way to grow vegetables. I now know the plants need lots of love and mulch, we cannot ever give too much love or too much mulch.

Umthombo Wesizwe has a new product for sale; home grown vegetables !!

The Hout Bay Diversity Day is growing in excitement, network and vegetables !! We have secured a stunning location for our garden:

The longevity is so exciting – the growing and selling of the vegetables will be determined by the Umthombo community and I certainly have no plans to move anywhere !! Join us on the 1st October …………… more to be revealed.

Umthombo Wesizwe are the proud earners of a B-BBEE Beneficiary Recognition Certificate. This certificate legitimises our beneficiary demographics; we comply with the requirements as stipulated in the BEE Codes of Good Practice for Socio Economic Development. This certificate may be presented to our donors for inclusion in their Socio Economic Contribution calculation on their BEE scorecard, to ensure that the appropriate points are earned. Summer in July – we are still in our winter woollies in the office, it does not seem right to be wearing shorts & min-skirts although I saw people swimming in Camps Bay over the weekend.
